Training with Wallsend Harriers
Athletes of all abilities and standards are welcome. Many of our current members started as tentative runners, new to the sport, perhaps seeking additional preparation for the Great North Run, London Marathon or Blaydon Race, and unsure of whether or not they would ‘fit in’ to a traditional athletics club.
It is one of the club commitments that new members will be accompanied at all times on club nights, and prospective members are urged not be dissuaded from applying for membership by any preconceptions about fast-paced runs or ultra-distance efforts!
Wallsend Harriers train on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from our Headquarters at Hadrian Leisure Centre, St Peters Road, Wallsend, NE28 7LQ.
Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 6.00pm leaving at 6.30pm
Where: Hadrian Leisure Centre (click to see map)
Friday (track session - Seniors and Youths)
Time: 6.15pm for 6.30pm start
Where: Churchill Playing Fields, Monkseaton (click to see map)
Training on Tuesday and Thursday is structured around 5 groups and a Young Athletes group - these groups ensure we cater for all athletes and abilities:

Wallsend Harriers Young Athletes Section
Steve Garrett is the Junior Coaching Coordinator and leads the Friday night track sessions with Gary Lewis and Barry Allsop.
Wallsend Harriers welcomes young athletes from the age of 8 and there is no pressure for anyone to join straight away. You can come along and see if it is for you, without committing to a membership.
Our Junior section works alongside the UKA Athletics 365 program to develop from an early age the key athletic skills of Balance, Coordination and Agilityl using 'Run, Jump & Throw'. Steve and Gary are both UKA qualified Children's Coaches and put on a session in a fun, games based environment. The aim is to develop all round athletic ability as well as encouraging fairplay, sportsmanship and to pursue a healthy and active lifestlye....for life
