So get your names in to club captains Vicky and Mick asap to get your race number - and keep it, as you'll need it for the whole Winter.
In the meantime, enjoy this offering from Wor Statto Stacey Rogers, with a run down on what's in store...
It's muddy and there's a few hills thrown in - you really do need spikes for this stuff - and make 'em 14mm ones!
Blokes' races are anything from 5mile to 8+ depending on the course, the diversions that have had to be put in place due to the weather and the cruelty of the organisers. They tend to be run in laps - so the first one's a practice and the second one is less of a surprise and the third is tortuous, as you then know what's to come!
Lasses' races are usually 3-4 mile and tend to be 1 or 2 laps at the most.
Younger lads usually follow similar to the lasses or slightly less.
It's all based on 'handicaps' for adults which means you'll find yourself in one of 3 packs, 'slow', 'medium', 'fast' - nice names! And if you end up in the top XX (this will be announced later) then you get to move up and chase the other packs down! Joy!

Note from Ed: It was during last year's XC season that the Wallsend Harriers tradition of enticing runners out into the mud and rain with cake was born. No pressure ladies, but my brownies were pretty awesome at the Toby...
