It was great to see the return to form of young Adam Hill who last night won the junior race of the Watergate 5k. Adam has been out of action after breaking his leg playing football so it is great to see Adam 'Lightening Bolt' Hill back out racing. Huge congratulations also to the lovely Danielle Hodgkinson who took victory in the women's race (and was 5th overall) and Chris 'former junior winner of the great north run!' Smith taking 2nd spot in the race. Well done guys and good luck to all those racing on Sunday!! Go go go green and gold!
Ged Lee, who works for the Environment Agency, is advertising three jobs to work in the Cramlington Field teams, these are all based outside requiring a person with practical skills, who can work as part of a team in order to deliver anything from a construction of a flood defence, attending a flood or pollution incident to cutting grass on a river bank in summer. If you wish to discuss any of these post please ring Ged on the number provided in the advert. Click here to see the advert and click here for a little more info on the role.
What a fantastic weekend had by those involved in our annual charity "Toby". This year, it was the famous 138 mile C2C cycle route. But yes, we did it on foot over just 2 days! As a result, St Oswalds Hospice, Beacon Hill and Woodlawn Schools will benefit from the sterling efforts of Wallsend Harriers again!
We would all love to read the thoughts of those who took part, whether you have done all 5, or more especially those new to the club or the Toby itself. So please do add comments as we did for the Blaydon and as Caroline Hasson has already done here.

Many thanks to (amongst many others) Darren Stephenson and Linda Proctor for being there to support in the pouring rain and taking the videos!
Yared Hagos, the Ethiopian Ace who loves to race, dusted down his racing shoes once more in Billingham, over 10k yesterday.

As well as being a great night with 3 exciting races and the finale to the Summer Grand Prix series, last week's Club Championship was also the penulimate race in the Summer Road Race Grand Prix.
As the runners came through the finish line, early predictions were correct as Steve Cunningham takes over as the new leader with just the Tynedale 10 mile left in the series.

Very well done to all who competed and many thanks to all who supported or helped in any way, on what was a memorable night.
So here are the pics we've been waiting for - all the drama of the Lindisfarne Bingo, captured by happy snapper Liam Smart.
Unfortunately we didn't get any shots of the of the sheer joy on the faces of the bingo regulars when our rabble won the prizes...
Anyway, the action shots are here

As well as being one of the most prestigious and traditional races in the Wallsend Harriers calendar, tonight is also the penultimate race in the Summer Road Race Grand Prix.
As ever, handicap times have been worked out for each individual runner and points will be awarded to those who better their times.
