Newcastle Park Run Saturday 15th May 2010
Seven club members took part in this weeks’ event, of which four were making their debut and two managed to record PB times around the imposing 5k course.
One of those making their debut was 14 year old Jack Armstrong, who notwithstanding being one of the youngest ever to compete in the run, posted an impressive time of 22m 20s. However, his was only one of many fine performances on the day. Graham King, after weeks of toil and effort, finally managed to break the 20 minute barrier and posted a time of 19m 58s.
Finishers were rewarded for their efforts with refreshments provided by one of the race sponsors.

Pier to Pier race Sunday 16th May 2010 (Hosted by Sunderland Strollers)
With cool and overcast weather conditions providing an ideal running environment, Wallsend club member Paul Brown continued his recent fine form by posting a time of 45m 56s for this 6.8 miles multi-terrain event, knocking a remarkable 3 minutes off his previous best.
A grand total of 865 competitors finished the run and were rewarded with an embossed picnic blanket, drinks, crisps and a chocolate bar at the end. Just what an athlete needs after a strenuous work-out.
