A Double for Daniels !!
After the results from the Prudhoe fixture were analysed, Dave Daniels achieved a unique distinction in the Wallsend Harriers Harrier League Grand Prix by becoming the first person to retain the title since the inception of the competition twelve years ago.
This remarkable achievement was done by the smallest of margins when he pipped Mick Baker - another great stalwart of the competition - by only ten points to clinch the overall series.
The Grand Prix, open only to Wallsend runners, is scored by means of an arcane, complicated, time-consuming method understood only by friendless individuals leading meaningless, bean-counting lives - so many thanks for Dave Moir for another year of compiling the results.
Despite this, it is generally perceived as one of the most challenging competitions within the club, as the winner must complete every one of the Harrier League fixtures, as well as the Sherman Cup and North-East Cross-Country Championships.
There are eight prizes on offer, with first and second in both senior and veteran categories for men and women.
The full final table can be viewed by clicking on 'NE Harrier League 2009-10' in green ink just below this article.
