Well what a fantastic night at the Gordon Smith Relays - thanks to all the local teams for showing such amazing support to this great event with a RECORD turn out of over 100 teams! Fantastic...simply fantastic!
Graham Armstrong reports with obvious and justified pride on his son's efforts at the weekend. Another result from the weekend ! Young Jack Armstrong turned out at the Newcastle Park Run on Saturday, a week after his 13th birthday and managed to improve further on his PB time of 21.39 set 2 weeks ago. In windy conditions Jack went on to record a tremendous time of 21.06 finishing in 47th position out of a field of 286 finishers. Not long before that 21 minute barrier bites the dust! Well done, Jack! ![]() Hoorah for Harry! The gentlemen of Wallsend Harriers were in action this weekend with victories on Saturday and Sunday in the bag in testing conditions on both days! Well done to the lovely Harry Coates who took victory in the Durham Duathlon. This 5k run, 25k bike ride then another 5k run was over undulating ground with a testing climb during the bike section. This coupled with a little bit of rain (understatement of the year!) made this a great victory for Harry...we've not said it in a while but Hoorah for Harry! ![]() Brilliant Bri! 24 hours earlier in Gateshead the simply BRILLIANT Brian Hetherington took victory in the Gateshead Parkrun. Now this is a man going from strength to strength. Following a stunning run on Tuesday in the first of the SGP series (where Brill Bri set a new vets course record) Brian took victory in a time of 17.03. On a ridiculously hilly course not only did Brian take the victory but he ran the 2nd fastest time ever for the course. Well done Brian...you really are brilliant!! The lovely Donna Horne writes... When I was asked to write a few words about the Terry O'Gara Memorial 5k I thought 'A few? You can’t sum up a morning like that in just a few words!'. - I mean I could talk about how well we did as a club to organise this event for the first time. - I could talk about how well supported the race was by other clubs. - I could talk about how everyone, including runners, marshalls, spectators and officials played their part in making the day enjoyable and go without any major hitches. - I could talk about the 2 Wallsend winners in Yared Hagos and Stacey Rogers. Or I could talk about Terry..... Huge congratulations to Laura Murphy and Paddy Dinsmore who today represented Wallsend Harriers in the London Marathon. Both had fantastic runs completing the event in the big smoke in under 4 hours! Fantastic results - well done guys!
