We came away with 4 prizes, plenty of good runs and a good night was had by all. 7 Comments The Wallsend Harriers Website Words of Wisdom return ahead of tomorrow's Tynedale 10M, courtesy of Team GB's awesome gold medallist Dai Greene. Recalling his push for the line as he came over the final hurdle, he said: "I just thought 'I can't let this go. This is mine'." So whether you're burning rubber for a PB, stepping up your training or running off that holiday vino, good luck to all and let's go go go! In case anyone is short of details for the race, they can all be found on the Tynedale Harriers entry form here After a great week for the club...including... our World Champion in the news, one of our youngest runners having the run of his life, two PB's at the Clive Cookson..you both know who you are!.. a new women's 1500m club record set, another triumpant triathlon performance AND a marriage proposal (woo hoo!)... the Wallsend's Website Words of Wisdom look forward to the week ahead......the first of the Summer Grand Prix on Tuesday to the ultimate running challenge..the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday...All Wallsend Athletes have a great week with the following Words of Wisdom (thanks to resident reporter Lee 'Slim Jim' Morgan) resonating in your head.... "Running is like a big question mark that is there each and every day. It asks you 'are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today'?" Peter Maher This weeks words of wisdom are dedicated to Stacey, Paul and all others who are competing in the London Marathon on Sunday...have a good week guys, rest your legs and all the best of luck from all your friends at Wallsend! "The marathon's about being in contention over the last 10K. That's when it's about what you have in your core. You have run all the strength, all the superficial fitness out of yourself, and it really comes down to what's left inside you. To be able to draw deep and pull something out of yourself is one of the most tremendous things about the marathon." - Rob de Castella (2.07.51 Marathon PB (Boston 1986) & World Champion 1983) This weeks words of wisdom are dedicated to all those who are taking part in the Blyth 10K this weekend. Whether you are aiming for your PB or to compete in your first 10K or just to have a great day with your friends just make sure that you...... "Throw back the shoulders, let the heart sing, let the eyes flash, let the mind be lifted up, look upward and say to yourself... Nothing is impossible!" Good luck to all! Due to popular demand the words of wisdom have returned this week. Following 13 PB's and 4 new course records at the finale of the WGP on Tuesday plus the medals won on Saturday at the VAANEE Champs this week our words act as a reminder to us all........ Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve (Pictured - Womens Captain Vicky Hindson - a girl who knows no limits - new WGP PB 18.33!) This weeks words of wisdom thanks to Ruth Marshall.. Following our AGM this week and fantastic reviews of the year from our Club Captains Mick (pictured right) and Vicky - well done guys! - this weeks words of wisdom summarise both their speeches perfectly..... "In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that." -Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder Hope you all have a good week of training...whether you are training for a marathon, a 10k or getting back to fitness ...see you all Tuesday! The Runners High! This week's W of W drive Mo Farah in his pursuit for athletic excellence. It seems only right that we congratulate his outstanding performance in the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham this weekend when not only did he smash the old British Indoor 5000m record but also set a new European Indoor record - 13.10.06. An awesome race alongside his training partner Galen Rupp...it was like watching Simon and Brian battle it out at the track on a Friday night!! THE RUNNERS' HIGH: It's no longer sport, no longer just a game. It has become a way of life. Every breath is a stride, every heartbeat a string of silence. It is a compulsion from deep within. It is a passion for glory. To go through the torment. . . To hear nothing but breath. To feel nothing but heartbeat. To feel so much like hell, running so close to heaven. This is the Runners' High. This is the feeling I live for. This is the goal I strive toward. If my chance disappears, part of my life would end. - Anonymous Website Wally introduces this week’s Wallsend Website’s Words of Wisdom...
