Super Sarah!
Sarah Fordham, in only her 2nd
SGP ran a fantastic 2 minute PB to win last night’s 2nd Summer Grand
Prix of 2012.
Fast-improving Sarah just could not be
caught as she led the 40 other runners around the 2 mile course in the Rising
Sun country park. All had to endure heavy rain as registration took place
and start times came round.

Bill controlling the rabble at the start!
Last night saw the culmination of the SGP series and the spectacle that was the Wallsend Harriers Club Championships - we also saw the 4th highest turnout of runners and riders since records commenced. 40 runners took to the line in wet conditions but spirits were high, spectators were out and photographers were ready! (To remind you of those stats from Statto Stace’s super article our numbers were only (just) surpassed in 1985 – 41 runners, 1987 – 44 runners and 2008 – 43 runners).....

Statto Stace!
Well the Pocket Rocket (AKA Statto Stace) has worked her magic and posts.....

If you’re mildy interested in our club stats – well here’s something to fill your time in which is better than XFactor, Dragons Den and Big Brother put together for your viewing perusal.

I reckon you could count on one hand the number of clubs in the UK who would have this sorta stuff going back to yonder year on an actual spreadsheet and not some fellas scribbled notes but hey – this is Wallsend – home of the Website Wally, Statto Stace and a certain Miss Horne who clearly had too much time on her hands whilst just being pregnant !..........

Reigning Mens Club Champ!
With the Club Championships fast approaching on Friday night this week (start time 6.30pm at Wallsend Golf Course on Rheydt Avenue) SOG posts this excellent article on the event and it's history.....

The Club Championship, in good clubs, should be a big deal. To participate in your club championship should be a source of great pride, whether you are Harry Coates or just beginning your journey......

Tony Maddocks (pictured) slices nearly 2 minutes off his season's best to win the 5th Summer Grand Prix!
Didn't Sog say something at the DTTH about Tony Maddocks beating Harry Coates?  Well he has done it again with a surprise best time this year!!

Hi all:
As you will no doubt be aware, tomorrow evening's race is the 5th out of 6 races which form the Summer Grand Prix series.   Although some may think that the man in pole position, Ste Armstrong has an unassailable lead and has the race won with 7 points between him and Claire Carmichael in 2nd, it is nowhere near decided yet:
2 important points to note, in case you were unaware?
