Race 4 of this season's North Eastern Harrier League took place at Wrekenton hosted by Saltwell Harriers. We all know that cross country races are tough, especially at this time of year when weather conditions can be less than favourable but Wrekenton is a particularly hard place to compete. No matter what the weather, no matter what time of year, a very open and hilly course tests even the most experienced and hardened cross country runners.
"When the body says 'stop', the spirit cries 'never!"
This quote, for me, summed up a great day for Wallsend Harriers at the Town Moor in race three in the 2010/11 Harriers League series. Originally scheduled for January, it was good to be back in league action after a prolonged break.
Torrential rain and a bitter chill can often be enough to put off even the toughest of runners. It takes a lot more than a bit of bad weather to put Wallsend Harriers off though as an incredible 14 male and 8 female athletes, as well as numerous members who turned up to support the teams, made their presence felt on the Moor.

Thank You Donna An excellent article from Lee Morgan on behalf of Wallsend Harriers...
We are all aware of the tireless work that the local officials put in at the races that we all participate in. The North Eastern Cross Country Championships were no different, with the timekeepers, results recorders and other officials working very hard to make sure the day ran smoothly...........

At the second time of asking, the North Eastern Cross Country Championships went ahead this weekend at Temple Park, South Shileds. Originally scheduled for December 11th, the event (along with numerous others around the region including our own Grand Prix) was postponed due to the recent snowy and inclement weather.
