Daddy Cool!

Lee Morgan posts this excellent report from the NEHL at Alnwick yesteday.
Lee Kernohan celebrated his new baby with a popular victory in the penultimate North East Harrier League at Alnwick. He led home a Wallsend team that finished second overall in the team event and pretty much secured Division One status for another season.

It was a popular victory for 'Kerna' who, despite still feelings the effects of a heavy cold (man flu!), took the lead just before the halfway point of the 6 mile race and came home 24 seconds ahead of his nearest rival

Bobble Hat Bonkerness!
Yesterday the troops were rallied, the bobble hats were out in force, the cakes were baked and the pink spikes were on...and that was just the men of Wallsend getting ready to rock and roll! Although we were missing Terry, and we always will, Terry was there in our hearts and watching from above as Wallsend Harriers had a fantastic day full of fun and great exciting running! The beginning of the Senior Men’s race saw a minutes applause in memory of Terry and on behalf of Terry’s family and Wallsend Harriers we would like to thank the Harrier League and all the runners on the day for this. It was a fitting and heartfelt tribute to Terry.

There is never a dull moment in the life of a Wallsend Harrier and yesterday proved to be the case again. The bells were out, the cakes were baked, the vests were washed, the bobble hats were trending and the runners and riders were ready to go go go! And on a hard course every single runner did their very best and we were very proud of every last one.

The last time we were at Fazza...
Statto returns to write:

So this week see the return to Farringdon – just a few weeks ago we were there for the men's relays and to let our girls ‘do their thang’ solo style.

So the gen you need to know …

With beautiful sunny skies we headed off to South Shields to take part in the Sherman Cup/Davison Shield. Unlike the other cross country races this is a scratch race and the race was on for medals and silverware! As ever we had a great turnout of runners and spectators…even the bells had multiplied in number (you all loved that didn’t you!!??!!)

Go Wallsend Go!!

Well done Phil! In his first run in a Green and Gold vest Phil Aiston took victory today at Cramlington in the first fixture of the Harrier League – a brilliant run from Phil.

In excellent conditions Phil was supported with a great turnout from Wallsend – both runners and spectators (one of which had a rather fabulous bell!)..more of that later....

you can thank me on Saturday for picking this photo

In case you didn't know, the first event of the North East Harrier League is in Cramlington on Saturday, hosted by our friends at Blyth Running Club. This will also be the location of the North East XC Championships in Dcember.

For those of us who don’t know where Northumberland is, or what a hill looks like, Stacey Rogers of Statland has been crunching away to provide all the info we could possibly need to get to the start line and then to get round the course.

So, following her GNR guide, here’s details of how to get there and what the course is like n that.

Lads, please arrive at the Wallsend tent for midday, so Mick can dish out the numbers in enough time to warm up ahead of the scheduled 1.15pm start. If you can't get there for 12 please let Mick know you're definitely running so he can plan accordingly.

Lasses - in the absence of our inspirational ladies captain, if the girls meet Emma at the tent any time from 12.30pm she will give you your number and register any new runners. The girls will then be heading straight to the sidelines to cheer on the men!!

Come on Wallsend! (is what they'll be saying)

PS Don't forget our NEHL XC guide here (summary: muddy, hilly, loads of fun).
