This is a new race in the calendar over the very popular 5K distance based on the well known “Gordon Smith Relays” route. An officially measured, largely traffic- free 5K course using the Hadrian’s Way Cycle Path in memory of club chairman Terry O’Gara.
Senior & Veteran Men & Women Start: 10.00 am with registration from 9.15am at Segedunum Roman Fort.
Whether running or cheering on the masses this will be a fantastic day to celebrate the lives of Terry and his beautiful wife Norma O'Gara. We are looking forward to seeing you all there - come on guys let's make Terry and the O'Gara family proud!
For further details on the route click here
It is our sad duty to inform you that after a long battle with illness Norma O'Gara passed away peacefully on Friday morning, fittingly she was surrounded by her close family.
Norma had shown unbelievable courage and strength over the last week of her life, defying the odds when the consultants told the family on Tuesday that Norma had only a few hours to live. But that was Norma – a strong, brave and gutsy lady.
This beautiful woman had truly been the wind beneath Terry’s wings and the driving force behind her children Paul, Steve and Kerry.
Norma’s funeral will be held at 10am on Thursday 19th April at St Columbas Church, Wallsend and 11.15am at St Peters Cemetery then back to the Lindisfarne.
The family have asked us to let you know that you are all more than welcome to attend.
On behalf of Wallsend Harriers we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Paul, Steve, Kerry and their families at this time. You are all in our thoughts and we send our love.
Kezza and Tezza x

Well what a fantastic weekend for 3 of our top class athletes in the female , senior men and vet men categories..
Starting with the female category....huge congratulations to the lovely Danielle Hodgkinson who represented the North East in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championship at Cofton Park, Birmingham on Saturday. Danielle came 38th in the race overall and with the rest of her team mates (Rosie Smith, Jane Hodgson, Alex Snook and Claire Simpson) finished 7th team place overall. Well done ladies!
Also in action on Saturday was brilliant Brian Hetherington taking part in the Newcastle Park Run. Despite a noticeable headwind Brian finished in a PB of 17.00 and took the age grading title in the VM44-99 with a credible 84.71%. There is no stopping you Brian!
And finally...oh yes...he has done it again! Today Yared won the Inverness half Marathon in very windy and very cold conditions. Running sub 5 minute miles Yared was victorious in a time of 65.00!
Well done Hagos!

After a super duper weekend of cross country racing we have the usual thrills and spills of training on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday...need to know times and locations then click here
Thursday night however brings us something different....now as well as running club we are also a culinary club producing some of the best food in the North East (including soup...yes Liam Smart rocked up on Saturday with soup, buns and a stove...AMAZING!) however our food may be fantastic but do we always get it right when we come to fuelling our running efforts....
Well this Thursday night, Ruth Marshall, has arranged for Gary Neal to come to the club after training on Thursday (7.45pm/8.00pm). Gary is a personal trainer (he used to be a professional footballer) and he is going to have a chat with interested club members about nutrition and sport. So come along and learn something new this Thursday!
HUGE congratulations to Emily and Paul James who today welcomed Noel Terence James into their family weighing 8lb 2oz! Double congratulations as it is also Emily's birthday!
We all cannot wait to meet him and all send our love to all 3 of the James family! Fantastic news!
