Sarah and a flapjack!
Last weekend at Wrekenton Kathryn's flapjacks went down a treat! With no races on this weekend we can all make the most of the spare time and get in the kitchen and make some of our own - excellent to refuel after the long Sunday run!

Thanks to Kathryn for her rather tasty recipe and few cheeky optional extras....

How about going for an Indian. It's much easier, there is no washing up and someone cleans up after you!'

(Note from Ed: Kev (pictured above in full athletic flow pre curry) - we secretly know you are going to try the Ham, Leek and Camembert Grill you cheeky devil you!)

Diet & Nutrition Inaugural Article!

As runners we are very conscious that nutrition and nutritional food is incredibly important if they want to live a healthy life. To give a few hints and tips as well as some great recipe ideas we have added a new exciting section to the website ‘Diet and Nutrition’.

If you have any great recipes (no Simon we don’t want you to send in the telephone number for Dine @ Home!), any news articles or interesting snippets then please send them into the website.

We have heard there are some great flapjack recipes flying around so send them in and then perhaps someone may make some for the next Harrier league at Wrekenton...that would be nice!!!

To start us off – our very own Club Captain and Birthday Girl Vicky (pictured in action!) has sent in a great recipe that is very popular in the Hindson/Gibbs household.....it is quick, easy, filling and low fat! Give it a go and let us know what you think!

Ham, leek and Camembert Grill.....

600ml/1 pint veg stock
700g/1lb 9oz scrubbed unpeeled potatoes, thickly sliced
400g/1lb (about 2) leeks sliced
100g/4oz wafer thin ham
125g packet camembert thinly sliced

Boil the potatoes in the stock until just tender, adding the leeks for the last 5 mins of cooking time. Drain and reserve 4 tablespoons of the stock.
Preheat the grill.
Layer up the sliced potatoes and leeks with the ham in a shallow heatproof dish and season between the layers.
Pour over the reserved stock and lay the camembert over the top.
Grill for 5 minutes until the cheese has melted and beginning to brown.

Then serve......lovely and even nicer is that it is only 280 cal’s per serving!
