Out of the headlines for all but a few days, Danielle Hodgkinson posted yet another fantastic performance yesterday to win the National Inter-Services 10k at RAF Honington in 37:32, a full 1:16 ahead of second place.

This comes on the back of her recent victories in the North East 10M Championships and the Toulouse 10k.

Absolutely bloomin' astounding Dan. Now read the article below and get your spikes ready!

The cross country fun starts a week on Saturday at Cramlington and doesn't stop until March 24 in Alnwick - that's five and a half months of joy for all of us at Wallsend Harriers.

So get your names in to club captains Vicky and Mick asap to get your race number - and keep it, as you'll need it for the whole Winter.

In the meantime, enjoy this offering from Wor Statto Stacey Rogers, with a run down on what's in store...

Amid all the excitement at the weekend, two Wallsend Harriers were racing on home turf -  Chris Smith and Peter Joyce taking in the Newcastle parkrun on Saturday.

Pete clocked a 21:52 and Chris came home in 18:49, which earned him a top 20 finish. Impressive by both!

The National Trust's Killerton House - bear with us...

With the club not chasing any races this weekend, it meant two things:

1, We had an absolutely belting track session on Friday, and

2, Our members instead went searching for other crazy things to do, at which they could post some most impressive performances.

What crazy things and impressive performances you ask? Well, us Jogging Journos have been searching through all your bins and hacking all your phones, and here's what we've found out...

What a weekend - 2 races, 39 runners, 18 PBs worth a cumulative 121 minutes, a press-up competition, green and gold nails, drugs tests, elite vests, fish and chips, and a new women's club 10k record in France!

We've given up trying to work out whose was the run of the weekend - you'll soon see why...

A very proud coach SOG writes:

Danielle Hodgkinson added to the flow of good news stories, with a stunning victory - on French soil, yesterday. The Hadrian Park Hornet squeezed the prestigious Toulouse 10K into the middle of her (current) altitude training trip.

What do you mean what's next? The GNR might be out of the way, but there's plenty of big runs still to come - Cumbrian Half, Brampton to Carlisle, Harrier Leagues, Kielder Marathon, Wallsend Winter Grand Prix...the list goes on...

If you ran today, there's an easy run of six or seven miles in store on Tuesday for story-swapping and plaudit receiving. Worry not though GNR types, the hard work will start again very soon!

For all you Harriers who didn't run today, our coaches have been scheming on the training plans for the months ahead and here's what you've got in store this week. As usual, meet on Tuesday and Thursday ready for a 6.30pm start from Tyne Met College and same time on Friday at Churchill Playing Fields in Monkseaton.

It seems like an appropriate time to mention...despite the better judgement of the Jogging Journette I saw no point in joining a club...until I ran 1.33 at last year's GNR and wondered how I could do better. Nine minutes later (thanks coaches) it's plain to see just what the opportunities, progress and life fulfilment signing for a good club can provide. Whether you join us, or one of the other fine NE clubs please try it...it will change your life...it certainly did for us Jogging Journos.
