Where do we start.........Firstly well done to all runners who took part in the Sunderland 5K tonight on the course around Silksworth Sports Complex and many thanks to Sunderland Harriers for putting on a great race. Billed on Sunderland Harriers website as '...fast and ideal for PB's...' the race is a two lap course, one small loop then a large loop before entering the finish straight. Tonight there were some insipirational and gut wrenching runs from the green and gold to produce some exceptional times and new PB's. No pictures required, very few words needed.....

Wallsend athlete Eric Smart is currently out in Sacremento, USA competing in the Masters Championships. Eric was one of 48 accomplished 100 metre sprinters who were competing. In the preliminaries he fought his way to the semi-final with a commendable 3rd fastest time of 12.31. He finished 3rd in his semi to qualify for the final in which he finished a sterling 6th, a world final well done to Eric!
In the 200 metres he yet again made the final winning his semi-final in a time of 25.3, the 3rd fastest in the semi`s. Unfortunately Eric has a DNF in the final and I am waiting to hear from him as to what happened. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this was not due to an injury.
Note from Ed: We all hope you are well Eric and all in all they were AMAZING performances and we are all VERy proud of you at Wallsend.

Jayne (celebrating her PB) and Neil Banks at the BUPA Great North 10K today!
Well done to all Wallsend Harriers who raced today in the Bupa Great North 10k and the Northumberland Coastal Run.....
