Congratulations to all Wallsend runners who took part in the Blaydon race last Thursday but following the publication of the results we are DELIGHTED to reveal the Wallsend Harriers Roll of Honour......
3 Comments Resident Reporter Lee Morgan writes an excellent article about the Blaydon Race but from a different perspective... ![]() Lee, Elaine, Terry and Emma Celebrating There are times when you read a race report and come to the conclusion that nothing more can be said. Website Wally's Blaydon Race report was a fantastic read and really captured every part of the night. I still wanted to put pen to paper myself though as I was keen for people to see the night through someone's else's eyes - the eyes of an injured runner.
He is at it again! Well done to Paul James...PJ...Jamesy - call him what you like but today he rocked in Redcar as he smashed his half marathon PB by 8 and a half minutes to clock 1.25.01 (unofficical) and registered just outside of the top 50.......awesome performance - well done Paul you flew the Wallsend flag loud and proud today. A well done also goes to Phil Fisk, friend of the club, who posted an excellent time of 1.52 - well done Fisky! Following the great success of Run for Japan - raising over £4,500 we are pleased to advertise and support a Charity Event taking place in Newcastle next Sunday 19th June at the Newcastle Labour Club. Yes - she has done it again..well done to Wallsends very own GI Jane - Danielle Hosgkinson - who on Wednesday broke the womens 800m club record in a time of 2.15. Danielle was competing in the Combined Services event at Loughborough. Only 1 week earlier she ran 2.16 (to set a club record) but came back this week to knock another 1 sec from her time. Shortly after competing in the 800m Danielle took to the track to finish 4.42 in the 1500m - well done Danielle - big love from your Wallsend chums! Well what a night! Another awesome turnout from Wallsend Harriers with 50 runners parading their green and gold vests over the 5.9 miles from Newcastle to Blaydon and wait for it.....26...yes 26 PB’s on a blustery night gannin along the Scotswood Road (for clarification Steve – that is how you get from Newcastle to Blaydon!)
What a race and what a night!! An awesome turnout from Wallsend and some amazing performances with pb's a plenty...race reports to follow but check out the photos right now and answer these questions!! How much of a great race was had? What is Alex doing with his hand??? How many times can Gibbsy photobomb a snapshot?? Did we have some fun or what??? And more importantly...did Alan ever speak to Emma again!!??!! Click here for the full photo gallery! Congratulations to Phil Aiston, Harry Coates and Don Shotton who raced in the QE2 Sprint Triathlon in Ashington today. In conditions that were more akin to the winter (it was freezing for them all on the bikes coming out of the water!) they all placed 2nd in their age categories with Phil taking 6th position overall and Harry 7th. Fantastic performances from all the guys - well done - it was great to watch! For provisional results from the day click here For more photos click here Today saw the 2nd track & field league meeting in Middlesbrough and it literally was a day of fun, fun, fun (and fun fairs...but for more details on that speak to Sarah!) We were slightly worried that with a depleted squad due to holidays, racing commitments, army training and injury we would not be able to pull the result we needed out of the bag....did we need to worry.........??
There are some fab photos from Sunday now on the website - grab a cup of tea and have a browse - thanks to Shazia Hogarth for taking all the great shots! Click here to view the photos or click on the picture gallery on the left |
