It is our immensely sad duty to inform you that Wallsend Harriers Chairman, Terry O’Gara passed away peacefully in the company of his family on Sunday 22nd January.
Many of you may have known Terry had been ill and throughout his short period of illness he has shown typical strength, faith, courage, determination and love to all around him.
As you will no doubt know, Terry was an inspirational, kind, amazing gentleman whom we all loved and who will be hugely missed.
We at Wallsend Harriers are all devastated by the news but are proud and privileged to have been a part of his life and for him to have been a significant figure in our lives.
All our thoughts and love are with Terry’s family, Norma, Kerry, Steve, Paul and their families at this time
We love you Terry and will miss you.

What a team it was that was posted to York today for the Brass Monkey Half Marathon. It was going to take some strong characters to cope - nay - excel - in the Yorkshire wind...but by jove have we got some of those in Wallsend Harriers! Six PBs, race winner and 2nd and 3rd ladies good enough for ya???
What a great team!
Well done to all the Wallsend Harriers who took part in the Durham Cathedral Relays today in what were testing conditions to say the least. 60 miles south in York there were some further awesome performances in a half marathon race that was taking place but we will save that for a separate report soon to follow!
Today however as the Wallsend troops were divided between Durham and York they were still out in force giving their all in the green and gold.
Recently someone asked what makes Wallsend Harriers a great club...well today what made Wallsend Harriers a great club was evident in Durham (and I am 100% sure in York as well!).......
Good things come to those who wait...and you have not had to wait too long as it is back with a bang! King Kev will be hosting another infamous curry 'nite' on either Friday 3rd or Saturday 4th February (most popular date will win so get your preference into wor Kev ASAP!)
Always a great night had by all, hosted by the wild, pyjama wearing, tea drinking (in a china cup) man of running!
Wallsend Harriers are delighted to announce with the support of Macoun Construction Ltd and Segedunum Roman Fort that we will be holding a new fast, flat 5k race on the popular Gordon Smith Relay course (the relays will still be taking place don't worry!).
This will be held on 22nd April 2012 at 10.00am and is the perfect way to start your Sunday. A fast 5k followed by a warm down and finishing back at home with a late breakfast/early lunch watching the highlights from the London Marathon! Sounds pretty perfect eh!
For further details, maps of the course, entry forms keep reading!
Entries for the 2012 Northumberland Coastal Run, which takes place on Sunday 22nd July, open just after midnight tonight.
The 14 mileish run goes along the beach/coastal path from Beadnell Harbour to Alnmouth Estuary and is a favourite of many in the Green and Gold.
The 1,150 places are expected to be filled by Sunday, so be quick. Entries are accepted at
www.entrylive.com and all the details are on that site.
Fixtures supremo Ian McDougall is currently rounding up his Green and Gold posse for two of the biggest races of the year.
The first is the super quick Blyth 10k which takes place on Sunday, April 1.
The second is the Blaydon Race which takes place - you'll never believe it - on June 9, and will be followed by a traditional post-race night out (and it's a Saturday this year).
Anyone who wants to take part - and who wouldn't? - just needs to stick their name on the lists on the board at the club and sit back as someone else does all our admin for us.
Another brill race in April - the North Tyneside 10k - doesn't have a club entry but there's a load of forms at the club for those interested. COME ON WALLSEND!
Relay Race + Cathedral - what more could you want?
Get on yer boots everybody - it's racing time again and Team Go Go Go is coming back out from the warm!
Tuesday: Club Night - meet from 6pm for a 6,30pm start at Tynemet College.

Tynemet College.
Friday: Track session/warm up for the weekend's racing - meet from 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start at Churchill Playing Fields.
Sunday: Durham Cathedral Relay Races - how do you plan the logistics for bell-ringing duties during a relay race??? OR Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York.
Good luck to all whether you're relaying, monkeying, keeping up the New Year Resolution, or just enjoying some cracking training.
Turns out Chris Smith and Lee Morgan were slacking for a reason at the track last night - they were rockin' the 5k parkrun on the Town Moor this
morning with the revered Mr Jimmy Flynn.
Chris finished sixth in 17.16m, Lee's comeback continued in style with a 13th place finish and time of 17:52, and Jimmy landed in 22:16 - a new PB on the course. Well done chaps!
